Abstract

The cross – sectional study on 388 students with questionnaires to describe the situation of pre-marital sex and its related factors at a College in Ho Chi Minh City, 2020. The results showed that 39.9% of students had premarital sex and the average age of premarital sexual debut was 20.9 ± 2.9 years old. Having had sex with > 1 person is 43.9% and 21.3% of students got sexually transmitted diseases. 50.3% do not use a condom and use emergency contraceptive pills. 14.2% were pregnant unexpectedly. Most of them deal with consequences in private health facilities. Factors related to premarital sex include male, parttime students, bedsit-living, looked sources of informal information and often drinking alcohol. Reproductive health education program for students is still an urgent need and needs to focus on the group having unprotected sex and the related factors mentioned.
