Abstract

A cross sectional- description research of 22,988 children under 5 years old in 15 districts of Hanoi in 2019 with the objective to describe the nutritional status of children. The research results show that: The underweight malnutrition
rate of children under 5 years old in 15 districts is 4.2%, the rate of stunting malnutrition is 10.6%, the rate of leanness malnutrition is 2.8%, the overweight rate of children under 5 years old is 6.5%. There are differences in the malnutrition rates of underweight, stunting, leanness and overweight - obesity between the sexes, between urban and suburban areas and among age groups. Therefore, Hanoi City should continue to assesment nutritional status of children under 5 years old in each district every year and to improve the nutritional status of children under 5 years, specifcally focus on reducing malnutrition for children in suburban areas and the age group of 24 - 36 months, and controlling overweight and obesity, especially in urban children and from 3 years and older
