Prospective intervention study with two parallel group designs, Group 1 (30 children, 777 carious tooth surfaces) was applied silver diamine fluoride (SDF) once, and Group 2 (30 children, 783 carious tooth surfaces) was applied SDF twice with 3-month intervals. Both SDF intervention frequencies were effective in reducing active caries. After 6 months, the mean number of active carious surfaces in Group 1 (4.47 ± 5.19) was lower than in Group 2 (2.00 ± 4.06). The effectiveness of caries arrest at 3 months and 6 months for Group 1 was 76.4% and 69.5%, respectively, and for Group 2 was 67.4% and 78.3%. SDF effectively prevents cavities from progressing, increasing with the frequency of intervention on active caries surfaces.
