Epidemiological characteristics of the COVID-19 pandemic and the responses of the surveillance system in Quang Ninh in 2021

A cross - sectional descriptive study combining qualitative and quantitative describing some epidemiological characteristics of the COVID-19 epidemic in 2021 and the response status of the COVID-19 surveillance system in Quang Ninh. All 3,457 cases were investigated, and officials in charge of COVID-19 prevention and control at the Center for Disease Control 191 Quang Ninh province were interviewed. The results showed that the epidemic occurred in 12/13 districts/towns/ Cities. People who have not received 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccine are 4.2 (1.2 - 14.5) times more likely to have severe and serious complications than those who have received 2 basic doses. The probability of serious and critical events is 75.8 times (16.2 - 353.4) times higher in people with underlying disease and 40.9 times (10.7 - 155.2) times higher in the age group ≥ 60 years. Officials get information from a variety of sources including medical facilities, hotlines, newspapers and even social networking sites. The reporting frequency is always maintained at least once a day, the reporting regime when there is an epidemic is 3 times a day at all medical facilities.
