The research aimed to describe the exposure status to hospitals and understand the related factors of Medical and Nursing students. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted from January to March 2021 on 397 Medical students from 3rd to 6th years and Nursing students from 2nd to 4th years at the School of Medicine, Duy Tan University. A stratified sampling method was used with a survey tool developed in three stages. The hospital exposure rate was 50.9%. Related factors included academic performance, self-assessment of antibody levels or vaccination for bloodborne diseases, confidence in applying learned knowledge and skills in front of patients, and the desire for more opportunities to practice skills on patients at the hospital. To reduce the hospital exposure rate, students need to proactively study, improve clinical knowledge and skills, and make the most of their practical time in the hospital. Universities and hospitals should establish regulations regarding testing antibody levels and vaccination for common infectious diseases.
