Abstract

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for students, but the practice of correct breakfast in students is still low. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 171 students of preventive medicine at Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2022 to determine the rate and some factors related to breakfast in this group of subjects. The results show that: the rate of students eating breakfast is 78.4%, of which only 0.6% of students have breakfast that meets the recommended energy
level. The percentage of students who always eat breakfast in 30 to 60 minutes is 20.9%. The reason why students do not eat breakfast is that they do not have breakfast habits (accounting for 46.1%) and do not have time to eat breakfast (38.2%). The factors affecting students’ nonbreakfast are the year of study (aOR: 4.85; 95%CI: 2.12 - 11.11) and the cost of breakfast (aOR: 5.38; 95% CI: 1.69 – 17.17). The difference was statistically significant with p < 0.05. Students need to have the right knowledge and attitude about breakfast to have a healthy breakfast that provides the necessary energy to complete work and increase concentration and improve study efficiency.
