Bacteriophages are one of the most widespread and diverse living organisms in the biosphere. This study aims to describe charaterzation of lytic of bacteriophage VP14 isolated from Thai Binh province in 2009. Laboratory techniques were used to characterize their lysis based on factors such as density, temperature, environmental pH, host range and survival time of the VP14 phage with under different conditions of temperature, pH and time
period in the external water environment and domestic water of people in coastal estuaries in Thai Binh province. The results showed that the lysis ability of bacteriophage VP14 was stable with environmental pH from 4 - 10. The range of parasites is specific to the 2007 cholera strain. When the ambient temperature below 40C and above 450C the lysis ability of the phage VP14 was reduced. Bacteriophage VP14 with a density at dilution from 10-7 is not able to lyse cholera. Bacteriophages can survive in the external water environment and the domestic water for 1 to 3 months.
