Abstract

This study was to describe the health insurance expenditure per case and one day of treatment by group of health insurance and analyze the structure and structural changes of expenditures over the past 3 years: 2018, 2019, 2020. The retrospective study based on available data with 156,944 patients undergoing multi - line inpatient treatment at Kien Giang Provincial Hospital. The results show that: patients must pay for a course of treatment are very low, ranging from 735 thousand to 1175 thousand VND. The average expenditure per day of treatment after adjusting for age group, gender and department over the years ranges from 641.4 thousand to 1,533 thousand VND/day. The amount paid by health insurance has tended to increase over the years (except in 2020 group (2) because the payment rate of social insurance organizations has increased considerably). The group that accounted for the lowest proportion is medical expenses, transportation costs and imaging fees. The largest expenditure is on drugs, accounting for 25% to 28.0% of the total expenditure. The second largest expenditure is for bed, accounting for 17.9% to 18.4% of total expenditure. The study indicated the level of health insurance spending have been increasing gradually over the years, the highest proportion of which are spending on drugs, medical consumable materials and bed.
