Abstract

A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 420 health workers at public facilities in Nghe An province from January to October 2020 to describe some factors that affected their job engagement. The result of the study showed that the reason why health workers did not want to commitment to their current work unit was that they wanted to find a place with higher income, accounting for a high percentage (58.5%). 15,0% of participants under the age of 30 did not want to engage in their current job. 88.6% of health workers supposed that the attention of local authorities has a direct impact on retaining and developing the healthy workforce. There was a relationship between satisfaction with colleagues and leaders; satisfaction with the level of income; job position and desire to commitment to the current job (OR: 31.4; 15.4; 22.7, respectively). 29.3% of participants thought that the current working environment having no opportunities for further training and 24.5% of them said that the working environment lack attractive policies, incentives in the application or is unsatisfactory. It is necessary to have timely and reasonable support policies, especially income support for health workers in order for them to be willing to work at the public sector.
