A cross-sectional descriptive study was 136 inpatients at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology - Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital diagnosed with obstetric complications from 2019 to 2020 to describe the status of obstetric complications of the hospital. Data was collected from in the General Planning Department of the hospital. The results showed that the rate of obstetric complications accounted was 0.8% of the total number of births. In which postpartum hemorrhage accounted for the highest rate was 0.4%; followed by postpartum infection was 0.2%. The number of stroke cases mainly from lower levels increased to 71.3%. Mothers who live in mountainous areas and/or have births ≥ 3 times had the highest rate of complications. From the results found we suggest that Nghe An province needs to promote health communication and education to all pregnancy, especially in mountainous areas, in addition to improving the quality of medical examination and management. Pregnancy management need to be provided in the grassroots health level.
