Anemia is a global nutritional problem affecting the health of women of childbearing age. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 809 women aged 15 - 35 years old in Son La province to describe anemia status and its associated factors. The result showed that the prevalence of anemia was 28.2%, at moderate public health significance problems, of which moderate and severe was 11.4%. The prevalence of anemia in the 15 – 24 years old group was 33.2%, significantly different from the 25 – 35 years old group (24.0%). Multivariate logistic regression showed sub-clinical vitamin A deficiency, household economic status; history of miscarriage were associated with anemia (p < 0.05). Multivariable linear regression showed that serum zinc and retinol concentration was linearly related to hemoglobin concentration (p < 0.001). In order to prevent anemia, it is necessary to intervene to prevent micronutrient deficiency, especially vitamin A and zinc.
