Quality of life among cancer patients receiving treatment and some related factors at Can Tho Oncology Hospital, 2020

A cross-sectional study of 1,050 cancer patients at Can Tho Oncology Hospital from June to August 2020 was conducted using EORTC QLQ-C30 score. Results show that the average quality of life score of cancer patients is 51.64 ± 25.14 . Factors include: living in urban area (p =0.022), high level of education (p < 0.001), occupation (p < 0.001), family finances (p < 0.001), participation in health insurance (p = 0.016), higher monthly income (p < 0.001), late disease stage (p < 0.001), metastasis (p < 0.001), duration (p = 0.003), treatment method (p < 0.001), associated pathology (p < 0.001) and and support of family (p < 0.001) make a statistically significant impact on improving the study subjects' quality of life scores. It is necessary to improve the quality of life for cancer patients not only during treatment time at the hospital but also after the patients come home.
