The status of adherence to treatment among hypertensive outpatients - Tay Nguyen University Hospital 2020

This study was conducted to describe adherence to treatment among hypertensive outpatients. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 405 hypretensive outpatients aged at 25 and above in the Department of Examination - Tay Nguyen University Hospital in 2020. Data was collected through in-person interview. The findings showed that the percentage of patients with correct treatment adherence was 16%. The percentage of patients who had correct medication treatment adherence was 68.4%. The number of patients who adhered to a salt-restricted diet, increased consuming fresh fruits and vegetables, and limited the use of alcohol and stimulants were all over 50%. There was 57.3% of patients adhered to the physical activities. Thus, the rate of patients having correct treatment adherence was low. Therefore, it is very important to advise for the patients on the importance of adherence to treatment for hypertension, in order to improve the quality of treatment.
