Knowledge on tuberculosis prevention of patients at commune health stations in Dien Bien province in 2018

A cross-sectional study was conducted with aim to describe the knowledge on tuberculosis prevention of patients managing at commune health stations in Dien Bien Province in 2018. The study was implemented among 265 patients with tuberculosis, the results showed that 67.1% of patients had good knowledge on tuberculosis (TB). The rate of patients understood the common symptoms of tuberculosis, the pathogenesis of TB, the transmission of TB, the duration of TB treatment, and the consequence of non-adherence with TB treatment accounted for 74.3%, 41.5%, 76.6%, 55.8%, and 78.1%, respectively. There was a significant association between the educational level and knowledge of people with tuberculosis with OR = 2.5; 95%CI: 1.3 - 4.8. Health education should be implemented to improve the knowledge on tuberculosis prevention of patients and at the community.
