Abstract

The retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study the list of treatment costs of 768 inpatient pneumonia patients at Hai Phong Children’s Hospital who had a discharge period from October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2019 with objectives toanalyze the direct costs of pneumonia treatment in children and some related factors at Hai Phong Children’s Hospital in the period of 2017 - 2019. The results show that the averagedirect treatment cost for each pneumonia treatment in 2019 was VND 4,939,935, in 2018 it was VND 3,596,807. In 2019, health insurance covered an average of 2,466,829 VND/patient, accounting for 50.0% of the total cost of direct treatment. In the two years, the cost of hospital beds accounted for the highest proportion, ranking second for treatment drugs. Antibiotics were the group of drugs with the highest cost, accounting for 69.6% of drug costs in 2018 and 68.6% of drug costs in 2019. Direct cost of treatment (EI) = -1,925,923 - 244,885 * (gender) + 1,480,256 * (severity) + 1,538,664 * (comorbid illness) + 172,538 * (number of days of treatment) with R2 = 0.191.
