Abstract

The cross-sectional study on 1593 participants aged 25 - 84 years aimed to describe the prevalence of risk behaviors of non-communicable diseases and some associated factors in Thua Thien Hue. WHO STEPS questionnaire was used to assess risk behaviors of non - communicable diseases, including smoking, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet and alcohol consumption. Data was analyzed by SPSS software version 20.0 and using multivariate regression analysis to identify associations. The results showed that the highest prevalence of risk behaviour was unhealthy diet (76.9%), followed by physical inactivity (23.7%), smoking (22.7%) and alcohol consumption (12.1%). The majority of participants had from one to two risk behaviors (78.0%). There were signifcant associations between gender, occupation, level of education and smoking; between age group, gender, occupation, economic status and alcohol consumption; between age group and unhealthy diet; between age group, occupation and physical inactivity. There should be interventions to reduce risk behaviors of noncommunicable diseases.
