Japanese encephalitis (JE) virus is transmitted by Culex mosquitos, which is positive single-stranded RNA; The virus has
only 1 serotype with 5 genotypes. This study was carried in order to discribe molecular characteristics of Japanese encephalitis virus isolated from Culex mosquitoes in Highland region, 2005-2018. Using molecular methods for analysis of 9 isolated virus strains from Culex, which were screening positive by RTPCR with primers of E gene of JE virus. The results showed that, there were 04 JE virus strains isolated in 2007 were confrmed to be JE virus genotype I and the other one isolated in 2018 were similar to the Maglie virus. In terms of molecular characteristics, 4 strains of JE virus GI in the Highlands region are difference from the other in the Highlands area, Vietnam and in the Asian region with the ratio of 1.4%-2.7%-4.8%. All four strains of the JE virus have eight sites of amino acid changes. However, all of them were non-converving subtitutes with two detected haplotypes to be NKSS and SKSS. The new detected virus strains in Highland region in this study by
chance, the need for further works in coming time for analysis.
