Associated factors for overweight and obesity of primary school children in Luong Bang, Kim Dong, Hung Yen in 2018

A cross-sectional and descriptive study was implemented to describe some risk factors related to overweight/obesity in primary schoolers of Luongbang, Kim Dong, Hungyen in 2018. 418 primary schoolers were under study. Some risk factors that were signifcantly associated with overweight and obesity included: having mother with high income, having mother with secondary education level or less, having a stay-at-home mother, of male gender, having a history of lowbirth weight, being the second child, having both father and mother who are overweight or obese, do not exercise, sleeping over 8 hoursper night, exercise for less than 30 minutes/day, brought to school by parents, having more than 3 meals a day, fond of sweet food and snack, having the habit of watching TV while eating. Some risk factors that were not signifcantly associated with overweight and obesity comprised schoolers’ age, being the frst child or only child, living with mother or father, eating more in the evening, having additional meals, fond of fat food, only eating favorite food.
