Situation of stigma and discrimination of patients on ARV treatment at Thanh Hoa province Center for Disease Control, in 2019

The study was conducted to describe the status of stigma and discrimination of patients on ARV at Thanh Hoa Province Center for Disease Control, 2019. The cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 258 participants through face-to-face interviews with structured questionnaires. The results showed that the percentage of stigma and discrimination was 17.4%, of which 13.1% experienced the feeling of being rumored about being others because of HIV prevalence, the lowest was not participate in religious belief activities; physical harassment / abuse; Stigma and discrimination by people living with HIV accounted for 0.4% of the total number of participants. From this result, we propose that further attention should be paid to patients on ARV treatment, especially single people, not yet employed, to help patients access and maintain, adhere to HIV/AIDS care and treatment better, contributing to improving health, life quality.
