Abstract

Population growth and rapid urbanization increases the water-using demand resulting in many problems which are ought to be solved in terms of water exploitation, usage and quality control. A cross-sectional study was conducted from October 2016 to October 2017 on 451 samples of domestic water at all water supply plants in Can Tho city to evaluate the domestic water quality and describe related factors. The research results show that the percentage of water samples met the standard of National Technical Regulation were 77.2%. The risk of water source pollution affects the following indicators: color, turbidity, hardness, chloride, total iron, manganese, nitrite, sulfate, and permanganate. Plant capacity related to the following indicators: color, turbidity, hardness, total iron, manganese, nitrite, and sulfate. Season related to turbidity, hardness, chloride, total iron, manganese, nitrate, nitrite, and sulfate. It is necessary to strengthen supervision and inspection to ensure the quality of raw water intake, as well as pay attention to changes in technological processes and the time of source water fluctuations during the year.
