Common health issues among elderly people in Hanoi, 2019

This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2019 to describe the common health issues among elderly people, aged 60 years or more in Hanoi. In total, 480 older adults in 12 wards/ communes in 6 districts of Hanoi were face to face interviewed by trained interviewers using a structured questionnaire. Results indicated that most of the subjects had health issues in
the past 3 months (76.0%). The majority of the reported diseases included arthralgia (43.7%); back pain (25.4%); headaches (26.2%); high blood pressure (27.6%) and poor vision, eye disease (20.8%). It were calculated that each older adults in Hanoi had 2.7 health issues, in average, in the past three months. Health intervention programs for older adults in Hanoi should focus on the common health issues that reported.
