Abstract

The study aims to describe the current situation and analyze some factors related to the health of young people seeking military service in Dau Tieng district, Binh Duong province. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 616 young people from May 2023 to November 2023. As a result, 42.4% of youth were deemed healthy enough to be enlisted in the armed forces. The rate of young people who are healthy enough to enlist is also influenced by a number of other factors, such as age groups 21 - 23 and 24 - 27 (OR = 0.67; OR = 0.58), young people who work for themselves (OR = 1.93), families experiencing financial difficulties (OR = 1.52), quitting smoking (OR = 1.5), abstaining from alcohol (OR = 1.63), exercising (OR = 1.45), and getting more than six hours of sleep per day (OR = 2.11). The rate of young people who are healthy enough to be recruited for military service is not high. It is necessary to screen the health of young people who drink alcohol and smoke, take measures to promote propaganda, intervene in nutrition education, and encourage young people in the area to participate in physical education and sports.
