Situation of the practice of uterine massage and breastfeeding support of midwives at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2022

A cross-sectional study on 50 midwives at the Department of Delivery of the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology to describe the implementation of uterine massage and breastfeeding support by midwives at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2022. The rate of pregnant women received a good uterine massage was 84%. 100% of cases of pregnant women was counseled by midwives about early breastfeeding. Regarding the knowledge of midwives, there were 17 midwives TCYTTG can correctly name 3 signs of babies asking for feeding including drooling, opening mouth, sticking out tongue and licking (34%). Most midwives only mentioned 2 signs, mainly drooling, sticking out their tongue and licking (accounting for 66.0%). Midwife’s postpartum care practice was relatively good. However, midwives should improve their skills and knowledge about signs of infant feeding and support for uterine contractions.
