Abstract

The study aimed to assess the safety of health facilities in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province during emergencies and disasters situations. Using a cross - sectional descriptive study design, 12 public medical facilities in the province were assessed between November 2021 and May 2022. The evaluation utilized the “Evaluating safe hospitals in emergency and disaster situations” toolkit provided by the Vietnam Ministry of Health. The findings revealed that 8 health facilities met over 80% of the evaluation criteria, indicating a good level of sefety. Health facilities with limited safety include the Mental Hospital, Vung Tau Health Center, Chau Duc, and Dat Do. Criterion Group C - functions related to policy and human resources have the lowest average score of 1.3 and should be focused on improvement. The health sector of Ba Ria Vung Tau province proactively improves safety to respond to emergencies and disasters to help prevent and minimize injuries, death, and property damage.
