Knowledge, practice about safe injection of clinical nurses and some related factors at Ha Tinh provincial general hospital, 2022

Abstract

A cross - sectional descriptive study combining quantitative and qualitative was carried out on 130 nurses at 13 clinical departments of Ha Tinh General Hospital from February to June 2022 to describe the knowledge and practice of safe injection (SI) and some factors related to SI practice of nurses. The results showed that the general good knowledge about SI had a low rate of 76.2%. The percentage of nurses with generally good practicing SI was 76.2%, in which the percentage of good practicing injection techniques accounts for the highest rate (91.5%), while the good practice of waste treatment and post-injection hand hygiene was lowest (76.9%). Some related factors such as age group 31 - 45, university education level increased the rate of the good practice of SI. Other factors such as training; equipment, tools also affected the rate of SI. The hospital needs to strengthen training on SI, and focus on preparing adequate equipment and tools for
injection work.
