A cross - sectional descriptive study on 800 outdoor environmental water samples in some north provinces Vietnam in the period of 2018 - 2019 to describe the circulation of cholera epidemics. behavior of cholera bacteriophages in the environment. Research results showed that 8/400 phages isolated from surface water samples accounted for 2.0% and 2/400 phages isolated from shrimp bait samples accounted for 0.5%. The PCR test results showed that the fs2 filamentous phage was detected with the fs2 gene from 10.5% to 16.8% and the fs1 filamentous phage was detected from 5% to 14.25% depending on the type of surface water or shrimp bait samples. Results of detection of the Vibrio cholerae host of the bacteriophage were most detected by the species-specific gene toxR from 36.8% to 38.8%; Detecting 5 samples positive for Cholera O139 and 3 samples positive for cholera toxin gene ctxA Through the study, it was found that cholera phage was detected in environmental water, and all can be detected in months of the year, Filamentous phage (filamentus phage 1 - fs1, filamentus phage 2 - fs2) appeared commonly in the study sites, especially in coastal provinces such as Hai Phong, Thai Binh and Nam Dinh. More research is needed to apply cholera phage surveillance in surveillance and prevention of cholera in the community.
