Leptospirosis serovars circulating among patients in some hospitals in three provinces of Vietnam from 2018 to 2019

Abstract

The hospital - based study aimed to describe the leptospirosisserovars circulating among patients in some hospitals in Thai Binh, Ha Tinh, and Can Tho city from 2018 to 2019. In total 3815 patients were selected into the study, of them 253 cases were confirmed with Leptospirosis by MAT. Leptospira serovars were identified among 222 samples of the 253 leptospira confirmed casese. The results showed that 20 serovars were found in 3 three provinces, including Ha Tinh (18), Thai Binh (17), and Can Tho (12). Althought the popular serovars are different in each province, the most popular serovars were Louisiana, Panama, Javanica, Patoc, and Bataviae accounting for more than 60.0% of the serovars found. Study also reported that 80% of the samples were positive with MAT at titers ≥ 1:100. Results of the current study suggests thatleptospira serovars circulating in human in Vietnam are diversity.
