Results of the pilot testing of a E-learning course on hypertension, and diabetes management for commune health workers

The aim of this pilot study was to assess the suitability and feasibility of an E-learning course on hypertension, and diabetes management. A cross sectional study, mixed qualitative and quantitative method was approached. The E-learning course was sent to 8 health staff in 4 commune health stations, 1 management staff, and 2 focal point staff for hypertension, and diabete management in Bac Giang province. When completing self-study all required content of the course, those staff answered a structured questionnaire and attended focus group
discussion or indepth interview. The results showed that the E-learning course proved to be appropriateness in training for commune health workers, helping them enhance and reinforce their knowledge on hyptersion and diabetes management. All lectures were scored high (mean 4 out of 5 scores) for almost all criteria, including content, lecturing, presentation/ duration, and obtained knowledge. Lectures were updated and followed guidelines of
Ministry of Health. In addition, they were presented and lectured suitably for commune health workers. The E-learning gate was incorporated useful functions allowing lecturers and facilitators track their study
progress. In conclusion, the pilot demonstrated that the E-learning course on hypertension and diabetes management is appropriate and fesible in training for commune health staff.
