Prevalence of hypertention and its associated factor among peoples whom were 50 years old and older in Tan Loi commune, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province in 2020

Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted among 305 participants, whom were 50 years old and older, to determine the prevalence rate of hypertension and describe its associated factors in Tan Loi commune, Buon Ma Thuot city in 2020. Overall, 22.6% of participants were prehypertensive and 31.5% are hypertensive, in which, stage 1, stage 2 and stage 3 of hypertension percentage were 25.2%; 7.9% and 2.0%, respectively; 42.1% people with hypertension were not aware of having that condition. Age, gender, family history, alcohol addiction, smoking, high salt intake, obesity, physical inactivity and diabetes were factors associated with increasing hypertension prevalence in this community. The research also showed a high percentage of prehypertensiveand hypertension in center of city areas.
