Prevalence of hypertention and its associated factors among peoples whom were 50 years old and older in Ea Tir commune, Ea H’Leo district, Dak Lak province in 2020

A cross-sectional study was conducted among 346 participants whom were 50 years old and older to determine the prevalence rate of hypertension and describe its associated factors in Ea Tir commune, Ea H’Leo district, Dak Lak in 2020. Overall, 13.3% of participants were prehypertensive and 48.0% were hypertensive, in which, stage 1, stage 2 and stage 3 of hypertension percentage were 27.5%; 15.3% and 5.2%, respectively; 54.8% people with hypertension were not aware of having that condition. Age, family history, alcohol addiction, smoking, high salt intake, obesity, potbelly and diabetes were factors associated with increasing hypertension prevalence in this community. The research also showed a high percentage of hypertension in low income and remote areas.
