Effective intervention for detection, treatment management of hypertension and diabetes at Commune Health stations in Thach That district, Hanoi city in 2018 - 2019

Abstract

A community - based controlled intervention study was conducted on all Commune Health Stations (CHSs) of Thach That district (intervention group) and Quoc Oai (control group) to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to detect and manage hypertension and diabetes activity in CHS. The study was carried out from August 2018 to the end of August 2019. The results showed that hypertension, diabetes detection and management activities have been signifcantly improved in CHS. Specifcally, the proportion of CHS implementing hypertension and diabetes screening/ detection has increased from 0 to 100%, the number of people≥ 40 years old who were screened has increased from 0 (before intervention) to 66491 (after intervention).
The proportion of CHS implementing diabetes management and treatment has also increased from 13.04% to 73.91%. The number of patients with hypertension and diabetes who were managed at CHS has also increased signifcantly (p <0.05). DID analysis showed that improvements in the activities of detecting and managing hypertension and diabetes were mostly
related to the time of intervention or the status of intervention (p) <0.05).
