A cross-sectional study of over 200 households was conducted in Ba Ria City. We aim to describe the knowledge, attitude,
practice, and related factors in the prevention of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) among parents. The analysis shows that parents had a good knowledge of the subjects who were susceptible to HFMD but did not have sufcient knowledge about transmission routes, disease symptoms, and measures to prevent HFMD. There was a statistically signifcant association between age of parents and the prevalence of HFMD infection, the probability of contracting HFMD was lower among children of older parents over 50 years old in comparing with parents from 20 to 34 years old (P <0.05). Therefore, there is a need to implement intervention activities to improve epidemiological knowledge, especially for young parents, and continue to maintain other programs in order to control the situation of HFMD in the community.
