As life expectancy rises, osteoporosis becomes a significant health issue for HIV-positive individuals, and determining their osteoporosis status is crucial. A descriptive cross-sectional study analyzed 422 HIV patients undergoing ARV treatment at Go Vap District Medical Center in 2023 to determine the rate and understand some factors related to osteoporosis. As a result, 9.9% of HIV patients have osteoporosis. Factors related to osteoporosis: age ≥ 45 (OR = 2.22; p = 0.005; 95%CI: 1.28 - 3.86); being a housewife (OR = 1.37; p = 0.034; 95%CI: 1.02 - 1.83); drinking alcohol (OR = 3.36; p = 0.004; 95%CI: 1.49 - 7.6); and have never heard of osteoporosis (OR = 2.38; p = 0.024; 95%CI: 1.12 - 5.26). It is necessary to strengthen education to raise awareness about osteoporosis for patients, encourage them to change healthy lifestyles, and focus on care for high-risk patients, including those who are older than 45, housewives, and those with regular habits who drink alcohol.
