Knowledge, attitude, practice and associated factors to correct hand washing of students at Binh Thuan College in 2023

A cross - sectional study was conducted to describe the knowledge, attitudes, practices and some factors related to correct hand washing of students at Binh Thuan College in 2023, the researcher interviewed and observation research on all 268 students doing internships at Binh Thuan Provincial General Hospital. As a result, 59.0% of students had satisfactory knowledge, 96.3% of students had a positive attitude, and 65.3% of students practiced correct hand hygiene procedures. There are many relating factors identified to knowledge: specialized (OR = 0.26 ; CI 95%: 0.09 – 0.73), number of training times (OR = 4.88; CI 95%: 1.28 – 18.55), practice (OR = 63.8 ; CI 95%: (23.41 - 173.87) relating factors identified to hand hygiene practice: sex (OR = 3.6; CI 95%: 1.79 – 7.25), specialized (OR = 0.07; CI 95%: 0.01 – 0.49) of students about hand hygiene. Therefore, to improve the quality of infection prevention for students, the study recommends continuing to maintain and enhance hand hygiene training, especially focusing on Pharmacy and male students.
