Some physical, psychological and spiritual health problems of cancer patients at Thu Duc City Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City in 2023

Palliative care is one of the important components aimed at improving the quality of life of cancer patients and their primary caregivers. However, to fully implement Palliative caring still faces many difficulties. To identify symptomatic and mental health problems of patients, we conducted this study, with a cross-sectional descriptive research design on 115 subjects (including a patient accompanied by their primary caregiver) at Thu Duc City Hospital, City. HCM in 2023. Research results indicated 5 main problems encountered by the majority (more than 50%) of patients were pain, lack of strength or fatigue, mouth problems, sadness and anxiety about lack of money in patients. The age group and stage of the patient had an effect on the share of difficulty sleeping. Research showed that evaluations according to the VietPOS scale have shown the needs and needs of patients for palliative care activities to relieve the symptoms they experience during cancer treatment in patients and caregivers.
