The disease model of a country or a certain community is a reflection of the health situation and the socio - economic situation of that country or community. Disease patterns are likely to change over time in accordance with the development of the society. The study aimed to describe the situation of common internal diseases in provincial and district hospitals in some ecoregions of Vietnam. We conducted a cross - sectional study in 20 hospitals in 7 provinces/cities, including 7 provincial hospitals and 13 district hospitals, using retrospective data from case management software at hospitals. Results in 3 years 2018 - 2020 showed that the average examination and treatment at the provincial level is 50,000 visits/hospital/year and the district level is 15,000/hospital/year. The number of transfers from district hospitals is higher than that of provincial hospitals (0.3% compared to 0.1%). In 3 years, the most common diseases were digestive, respiratory, metabolic diseases and cancer. Therefore, diagnosis, treatment and prevention for these groups of diseases require more attention.
