Abstract

A descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on 225 pregnant women with gestational age over 24 weeks in Thu Thua district, Long An province from January 2022 to February 2022. The objective of the study was to describe the knowledge, attitudes, and practices and identify some factors related to prenatal
screening of pregnant women. Results: Pregnant
women have correct general knowledge, attitudes and practices about prenatal screening: 53.3%; 56.9% and 59.1%. Research shows that the percentage of pregnant women with correct knowledge about prenatal screening is not high, there is a close relationship between knowledge, attitude and practice. Age group, education level, place of residence, occupation are factors affecting the knowledge, attitude and practice of prenatal screening of pregnant women. The higher the education level of pregnant women, the higher the correct opinion about prenatal screening with p < 0,01. Pregnant women living in urban areas have twice the rate of general knowledge as women living in rural areas, p < 0,01. The research results show that it is necessary to strengthen the training of knowledge on prenatal screeng, risk factors for birth defects, and prevention of birth defects for primacy and network health workers local population collaborators network.
