Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted on 400 households, aims to describe the usage and storage of pesticides by people in 2 communes in Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh, from January 2019 to June 2019. The results show that 25.2% of the people under study mix pesticides without taking into account the instructions, 91.5% use at least one type of protective equipment, and 8.5% have no protective equipment while using it. Over 90% of the people under study spray pesticides in the early morning or at the end of the afternoon, and 18.2% do not take into account the wind direction. The percentage of people who fail to safely discard the containers of pesticides is 90.5%, only 1.2% bury them, and 76.1% wash sprayers in the ditch and in
the rice-feld. 9.0% of the households store the pesticides in their house, 48.9% of which use plastic bags, and 18.8% use plastic barrel. Usage and storage of pesticides among subjects under study are inadequate, so there is a need to design solutions to improve their knowledge.
