Abstract

A cross - sectional descriptive study aimed to describe some factors related the sex ratio imbalence at birth in Hai Phong city in 2018. Data was collected by interviewing mothers who gave birth in 2018, interviewed In - depth consultation with commune/ward People’s Committee leaders, and group discussion of collaborators in 8 communes/wards of 4 districts of Hai Phong city, The results show that the factors affecting the choice of the fetus’s sex in the study area are traditional
customs (following the family line), because of the actual needs (needing a lot of labor, taking care of elderly parents, policies to address the issue of Sex Ratio at Birth are still inadequate, and the sex selection of the fetus is easy
