Factors associated with hypertension prevalence in people aged 40 and older at Minh Duc commune, Tu Ky district, Hai Duong province in 2021

Abstract

A cross-sectional study was conducted on 450 people aged 40 and older at Minh Duc commune, Tu Ky district, Hai Duong province, from October 2020 to August 202, aimed to describe some related factors to hypertension. Conduct blood pressure measurement and face-to-face interviews at people's homes with a pre-designed questionnaire. Research results showed that factors related to hypertension include: Age (OR = 2.0 - 8.74; 95%CI: 1.10 - 18.41), family history of cerebral vascular accident or myocardial infarction (OR = 2.09; 95%CI: 1.04 - 4.18), overweight and obesity (OR = 2.03; 95%CI: 1.24 - 3.33) and smoking (OR= 2.02; 95%CI: 1.25 - 3.28). It is necessary to strengthen communication work in many forms, direct communication, communication on commune loudspeakers to increase people's correct awareness about disease prevention.
