Abstract

The cross-sectional study was conducted on 120 health-care staffs in 2 districts of Thuy Nguyen and Cat Hai, Hai Phong, from January 2017 to December 2017. The objective of this study is to describe knowledge, attitude, skills (KAS) of health-care staffs in early detection of breast cancer (BC) in 2 districts Thuy Nguyen and Cat Hai. The results of the study showed that the correct knowledge of symptoms and preventive breast cancer measures of health workers were high over 90%, the correct knowledge about the BC risks and methods of detecting measures were lower, 61.7% and 73.7% respectively. More than 90% of health workers have positive attitudes towards BC. However, the clinical practice of breast examination was still limited
in both districts, the average score of questioning skills is 5.56 ± 0.96 out of a total of 9 points, the average score of medical examination skill is 4.0 ± 0. 5 out of 12 points. These results indicate the need having a training classes to improve
their knowledge of BC as well as develop early detection skills of BC in professional practice in  the community.
