Abstract

A cross-sectional descriptive study of 1837
junior high school students Le Loi, Le Chan
district, Hai Phong city from October 2019
to March 2020 in order to describe nutritional status and some related factors in this study subject. As a result, the rate of overweight and obesity students was 29.9%, the rate of overweight and obesity among male was higher than that of female students (37.3% and 22.2%). In addition, the general malnutrition
rate is 4.8%, The proportion of male students with malnutrition is lower than female students (4.8% and 4.9%). Some factors related to the student’s overweight and obesity are: male; Eat 4 or more main meals a day; Have a habit of eating at night; Eat sweet foods ≥ 1 time / day;
Drink carbonated soft drinks. Some factors
related to student malnutrition are: Skipping meals; No breakfast every day. From this result, the study contributes to the introduction of nutritional interventions suitable for this age in Hai Phong city.
