Abstract

A cross-sectional study was carried out in six selected craft villages in Hung Yen province, Vietnam, to determine the rate of occupational injuries, illnesses and describe related factors among craft workers, especially young worker (15-24 years old). The results showed that 46,8% of the workers participating in the study suffered at least once injury during their work process. Dong Mai lead recycling village in Van Lam district and Lai Trach vermicelli production village in Yen My district, Hung Yen province were the two top villages among 6 ones in terms of injury rate (84.6% and 86.7%, respectively). Gender, daily hours of works, night work and sub-sector were signifcant factors associated with the occupational injury rate. More than onethird of workers suffered from chronic diseases, the most popular ones was musculoskeletal diseases. Adult workers (25-64 years old) had a higher rate of suffering chronic diseases (38.4%) than the young ones (13.3%). Age group and working experience were signifcant factors associated with the rate of chronic diseases.
