A cross-sectional descriptive study aimed to describe the use of inhaled drugs on 120 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and some of factors related to the inhaler technique from March 2018 to March 2019 at the Asthma-COPD management unit of Frienship Hospital, Hanoi. The results showed that the proportion of patients with at least
one error in the technique using the metereddose inhaler (MDI) and dry-powder inhaler (DPI) was 85.83% and 78.13%, respectively; The most common mistake for using MDI of patients were shaking the medicine, exhale with all might, coordinate hand pressuare and mouth inhalation, and holding the breath; for DPI included exhale with all might, inhaling
medicine, and holding the breath. The result also showed that the patient less than 60 years old, consulting medical staff and regularly joining COPD clubs were positive factors on the medicine compliance practise (p < 0.05). The proportion of patients using inhalers with improper techniques is still high, it is necessary to increase counseling on using the correct techniques from medical staff
