A cross - sectional study was conducted to describe the knowledge and attitudes of monkeypox prevention among 368 fourth-year medical students at Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The results of the research indicated that the proportion of students with good knowledge about monkeypox accounted for 52.7%. The majority of students had positive attitudes about monkeypox with agreement rates ranging from 59% to 73.1%. Students who receive good or above grades in their academic performance have better good knowledge scores than those who receive ordinary or below grades with p < 0.01. Students with good knowledge have a more positive attitude than students with poor knowledge, believing that they play a huge role in preventing monkeypox outbreaks and are willing to use appropriate personal protective equipment in the treatment of monkeypox patients with p < 0.01. Students are willing to be vaccinated against monkeypox when the government provides the vaccine for free or even if they have to pay for vaccination themselves with p < 0.05. Focusing on education on monkeypox prevention is necessary to improve students’ knowledge, attitudes, and be ready to participate in response when the epidemic occurs.
