The current situation and some factors related to the mental health of high school students at Nguyen Duy Hieu High school, Dien Ban town, Quang Nam province, in 2023

Abstract

A cross - sectional study was conducted from October 2022 to October 2023 on 474 high school students at Nguyen Duy Hieu High School in Dien Ban town, Quang Nam province, aiming to describe the current situation and various factors related to the mental health of students. The research results showed that the proportion of students at risk of mental health issues was 28.1%. Additionally, factors associated with mental health issues in students included concerns/self - consciousness about physical appearance, lack of self - confidence/ disappointment in their own grades, selfperceived importance of academic achievement, and cyberbullying within the past 6 months. This is a concerning issue, and schools and parents need to collaborate in addressing the mental health and physical development of these students. Early detection of signs of students experiencing mental health issues is crucial, and it is recommended to implement screening, provide psychological counseling for students, and establish a psychological counseling center within the school.
