Postpartum depression and some related factors in women with children under 1 year old of Huyen Hoi commune, Cang Long district, Tra Vinh province in 2019

Abstract

Post-partum depression affects the mental, physical and emotional health of the mother as well as the effect and endanger the newborn. This cross-sectional study does 143 women with children under 1-year-old at the time of April 2019 in Huyen Hoi commune, Cang Long district, Tra Vinh Province to determine the incidence and describe some factors related to post-partum depression. The study results showed that the rate of postpartum depression of women with children under 1-year-old was
0.7%. Some of the factors associated with post-partum depression are determined to be the health of the child after birth (PR=47; 95% CI=-0.20-0.87), help to do housework in frst month after birth (PR=23; 95% CI=0-0.13- 0.46), help to care the ill child (PR=27.8; 95% CI=-0.15-0.55), and the factors associated with the husband such as: attention, anxiety, interest in the children’s gender.
