Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted many aspects of economic and social life, including the health and physical activity (PA) of older adults. The study was carried out with the following objectives to describe the current status of PA and some factors related to PA among older adults in Hue city in 2022. A cross - sectional study was conducted on 416 older adults in Hue city. The Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) was used to measure PA levels. The results show that the proportion of older adults who did not PA as recommended by WHO was 29.8%. There were significant associations between PA and a subject’s current job, main source of income, awareness of PA, and the willingness to wear a mask (p < 0.05). The proportion of older adults who did not reach the level of PA recommended by the World Health Organization is still high, thus it is necessary to have solutions to increase the level of physical activity among older people.
