Cachexia is a “wasting” disorder that causes extreme weight loss and muscle wasting and can include loss of body fat. Up to 66% of the patients with End-stage renal disease (ESRD) on dialysis experienced cachexia for at least 6 months before death. This study aims to determine cachexia and describe some related factors in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis in Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital. Our research was conducted on 96 patients on dialysis at the Nephrology and Dialysis Department, in Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital from April 2019 to June 2019. The results set out the cachexia degree of patients on dialysis was 30.2% and the degree of nutritional defciency according to BMI was 11.5%, with the indexes of albumin HT, NRS-2002, TSF, MAC, MAMC, AMA being 30.2%; 22.9%; 34.4%; 19.8%; 10.4% and 36.5%, respectively. There is a connection between the cachexia degree of patients with ESRD on dialysis and the rate of weight gain in the middle of 2 consecutive terms of dialysis.
