Chemsex behaviours in men who have sex with men (MSM) have potential health concerns, increasing the risk of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Therefore, this study aimed to describe chemsex behaviors and some associated factors among MSM. A cross - sectional study was conducted from July to
September 2022 on 200 MSM in An Giang. The multivariable logistic regression model was performed to explore the factors associated with the chemsex behaviours. The results showed that the proportion of chemsex behaviors in MSM was 26.5%. The likelihood of having chemsex behaviors was higher in MSM who had a high school degree (aOR: 2.66; 95% CI: 1.05 – 6.75), or who were living with a male partner (aOR: 4.03; 95% CI: 1.43 – 11.36), or had 2 or more sex partners (aOR: 2.41; 95% CI: 1.05 – 6.76), or had ever group sex (aOR: 3.56; 95% CI: 1.35 – 9.39), as compared with their counterparts. The proportion of having chemsex behaviors among MSM in An Giang province was relatively high. Appropriate interventions on communication and access to HIV/STI prophylactic services among MSM should be paid more attention, especially for MSM who had a high school degree, multiple sex partners, and group sex.
